About Us

Our Lives. Our Health. Our Way.

Since our founding in 2017, BlaqOut has solidified a place as a disruptive innovator in the field of HIV testing and prevention, telehealth, and PrEP/PEP access. By focusing our efforts on improving healthcare access and wellness outcomes for the most marginalized, BlaqOut has created new pathways to better care for our core membership: Kansas City’s Black, LGBTQ+ community. 

The result of these innovations? BlaqOut is now able to serve everyone in need of our easily accessible, low- to no-cost services, like primary care and STI health screenings and treatment, labs, health insurance navigation, and more!

2017

  • BlaqOut founded on April 11th
  • Health Forward Foundation underwrites first comprehensive Health Needs Assessment (HNA) of Black queer community
2018

  • Blaqout's "Vision 2020 Study" receives Institutional Review Board approval
  • Partnership with UMKC School of Medicine Community Health Research Group
  • Inaugural BlaqOut Empowerment Summit
2019

2020

  • BlaqOut approved for federal 340B Drug Pricing Program
  • BlaqOut’s Virtual Health Studio opens 
  • Launch of BlaqOut’s TelePrEP program
  • Debut of Let’s PrEP!, BlaqOut’s proprietary Medication Therapy Management program
2021

  • Return of the BlaqOut Ball
  • Launch of BlaqOut’s PrEP Access program offering PrEP for All
2022

  • Purchase of 3601 Main Street, marking the establishment of Kansas City’s first permanent safe space for the Black LGBTQ+ community and its allies
